The High School students attend classes in the General Classroom Building named the Swisher Science Building. It houses the library, science and computer labs, and faculty and administrative offices. Middle School students also take advantage of the buildings academic offerings.
The library is central to the educational program at St. Bernard Prep. It is the repository of more than 20,000 volumes, over 20 regularly subscribed magazines, daily newspapers, and a variety of audio-visual materials, with appropriate equipment. Access to the Internet complete the learning resources available to students. Library hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Computer lab currently boast Pentium IV processors operating at 2.8 MHz and using Windows XP operating system. Instruction is provided in keyboarding as needed, Microsoft Office XP and Adobe Photo. Additionally a writing lab is available for students to prepare research papers, essays and other class assignments. This lab uses Windows 98 and Ofice XP software. Both labs have internet access.
Fazi-Richard Athletic Center was constructed in 1997. The $1.7 million dollar complex features a court for basketball and volleyball competition, two practice court areas, weight room, meeting rooms, locker rooms and showers for physical education and team competitions, a food service area, lobby, and classroom facilities.
Dining Hall
Boarding students are served three meals daily in the dining hall, with day students joining them for lunch. This facility can seat about three hundred people and is the setting for numerous banquets and special events.
The Monks of St. Bernard Abbey welcome students to pray with them daily. Occasionally students may attend Lauds and Vespers and are especially welcome to attend daily Mass. The School schedules special times for Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) and other services for the students and celebrates special feast day Masses with the Monks.
